My name is Joe Power, I’m a 36-year-old artist currently living in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada. My journey with art began long before I ever imagined sharing my work with others. I grew up in the small town of Chapel Arm, Newfoundland, a community of just over 300 people where creativity often came from making your own inspiration. I started painting when I was only four years old, and from the beginning it felt like a natural part of who I am. When I was six, I was diagnosed with Tourette syndrome. As a child, art quickly became more than just something I enjoyed—it became a way to focus, calm my mind, and express myself. Painting gave me a space where I could channel my energy and creativity in a positive way. Over the years, it has remained an important part of my life, helping me cope and stay grounded. What makes my artistic journey unique is that I’ve continued to paint despite the challenges that Tourette’s can bring. In many ways, it has shaped my determination and passion for creating. There’s something incredible about being able to transform movement, emotion, and experience into something visual on canvas. My collection includes artwork from many stages of my life, from pieces I created as a teenager to works I’ve finished more recently. Each piece reflects a moment in time and a part of my story as an artist. I hope that when people view or collect my artwork, they feel a connection to it and enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
